FASHION CENTS 2009 is a fashion show geared to exposing the young people of New Orleans to contemporary low cost fashion. This year the event will be held at Xavier University’s Mary and William McCaffrey Ballroom and expects to bring in over 1000 attendees including children, teenagers, young hip professionals (teachers, parents, advocates for youth, etc), community leaders & elected officials, and local artists and musicians.
Get ready for a great time with neighbors, family and friends as our young people take to the stage wearing some of the latest trends from well known (and not so well known sources). Second-hand stores, local boutiques and designers, along with local artists are sure to please as you kick back and enjoy drinks, hors de voures, and good company.
Your participating in FASHION CENTS will not only allow you to get out to know neighbors from all over the city, market your product or service (vendors tables are available), or have a night cap, but 100% of the proceeds will also support the following:
LEONIDAS HOUSE
Help rebuild the old TCA Carrollton Head Start Facility now known as LEONIDAS HOUSE. Currently, Leonidas House supporters and volunteers organize, advocate, engage and support youth, families, and neighboring faith-based and civic associations in the Carrollton area. Once the building is fully renovated, Leonidas House will be a full service, staffed community center.
HARRELL PARK
Leonidas House is supporting the coaches of Harrell Park in organizing an official Boosters Club to ensure the sustainability of a true Carrollton and New Orleans Icon. It has been since before Hurricane Katrina that we have seen our faithful coaches and players take to the field. The Sewerage and Water Board and The City of New Orleans have stated that the park will be opened this August… just in time for Football Season. Harrell Boosters needs your support to make sure that we reopen the park with a BANG!
CEASE FIRE (Carrollton)
Leonidas House supports the effort to implement Cease Fire in New Orleans, an evidence-based initiative (endorsed by the White House) that studies violence as an epidemic and seeks to be the cure. Carrollton is one of the most violent areas of our City, so Leonidas House is on Board. We have asked Councilman Carter to speak on the potential of this program at the event, but in the meantime, Google CEASE FIRE CHICAGO to read about it.
If you have any questions don’t hesitate to call.
Thank you in advance for supporting your community!
